CD Aims To Make Life Easy For Landlords

The Department of Building and Housing has released an interactive CD-ROM to help landlords manage properties.
The CD gives landlords important advice and information on managing properties effectively and giving tenants value for money. It also includes video clips of real landlords sharing useful tips on running a successful tenancy business.
Users of the CD can view a range of clips for each topic in the usual chronology of a tenancy, from attracting tenants to terminating the tenancy. The CD has four main sections: getting, started, managing your tenancy maximising value and managing disputes.Each section covers many specific topics in more detail. Also included are downloadable documents needed by landlords, information on dealing with property managers and links to relevant web pages. These documents are also available in the paper based landlord pack.
The CD is free and can be ordered on line through the department’s website www.dbh.govt.nz. In addition, the department continues to offer landlords free public public seminars on the basics of running a tenancy. Landlord seminars are already scheduled and can be viewed at www.dbh.govt.nz/landlords-events-contacts.
